Abstract

This module examines how firms interact strategically, both competitively and cooperatively, as they create and capture value. Although the module focuses on strategic interactions between competitors, an organization's relationships with buyers, suppliers, and complementary businesses also involve strategic interactions. Together, these other players can constrain or enhance the value that a firm creates and captures. A thriving organization understands its interdependencies with other players and anticipates the consequences of its choices. Examples of the questions addressed in the module are: What are the consequences of an action? How will other players respond? How can I induce certain behavior in other players?
