Abstract

JoAnn Price and Dr. Larry Morse were the first African-Americans to launch a fund of funds in the private equity industry. Their fund, Fairview capital, was created in response to the dearth of capital invested in private equity funds managed by black and other minority general partners. After 20 years of success that came from investing over $3.5 billion, JoAnn and Larry are now contemplating further growth by investing in funds that have no black or other minority General Partners. This is a common issue faced by companies that were created to serve an underserved market; if and when should they serve the general market?
