Jeff Goldman practices exclusively in the area of business immigration law. He has 32+ years of extensive experience representing technology, life science, and entrepreneurial businesses regarding all visa matters, as well as permanent residency applications. After managing the immigration law sections at two nationally recognized law firms for 11 years, Jeff opened his own practice in 2011.
Jeff has successfully filed tens of thousands of H-1B, L-1, O-1 and E-2 petitions, and more than 5000 PERM Labor Certification applications. A significant part of Jeff’s practice is working with scientists and entrepreneurs seeking Extraordinary Ability, National Interest Waiver, and Outstanding Researcher permanent residence classifications, and O-1 nonimmigrant status. As a mentor to MIT, Harvard, Brown, Stanford, Y Combinator and TechStars entrepreneurs, Jeff has helped entrepreneurial founders and investors understand and implement effective immigration strategies. Jeff is the only Legal Specialist for Immigration Matters at the Rock Center for Entrepreneurship at Harvard Business School, mentoring 50-75 HBS students each year.
Jeff is past recipient of the "Pro Bono Attorney of the Year" award from the Political Asylum/Immigrant Representation Project in Boston, due to his extensive pro bono work with refugees.
In 2014, Jeff conceived of the idea and drafted a working outline for a program known as the Massachusetts Global Entrepreneur in Residence Program, which three different Governors of Massachusetts have adopted as part of their plans to offer immigration assistance to the best and brightest foreign nationals who come to Massachusetts. Jeff and his daughter Danielle Goldman then created The Build Fellowship by Open Avenues, which manages several H-1B Cap Exempt programs run by non-profits, helping them secure 385+ cap-exempt H-1B visas without the need of winning the H-1B Lottery, and helping 385+ private companies file concurrent H-1B petitions without needing to win the H-!B Lottery. Build Fellowship is nationally recognized as the leading organization to help talented foreign nationals legally work in the United States when there are no H-1Bs available.
Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker appointed Jeff to Chair his Advisory Council on Refugees and Immigrants which Jeff chaired from 2015 to 2022. In 2016 Jeff was invited to the White House with other leading immigration advocates to brainstorm effective ways to integrate professional immigrants into the workplace.
