Admissions & Financial Support
HBS admits a talented class of intellectually curious applicants from diverse backgrounds
every year. We search for individuals who want to influence the world of practice
through new knowledge that is developed through deep rigorous study.
Applicants are evaluated on their academic records, letters of recommendation, research and work experience, statement of purpose, and potential to conduct independent research with the guidance and support of the faculty at Harvard. Scholarship requires strong written and verbal communications skills. All applicants are required to submit either a GRE or GMAT score. Additionally, students who have not received a degree from a 4-year English-speaking institution must also submit a TOEFL or IELTS score.
All of our programs are jointly offered with the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, providing students with all that Harvard University has to offer. More information about our programs can be found on the program pages or you may join us for one of our outreach events online or in person.

HBS is proud to offer all incoming students, regardless of need and background, a
fellowship which includes tuition, single-person health fees, and a living stipend
($47,586 for 2023-2024). Our financial aid program features guaranteed funding for
up to five years with an application for a sixth year funding. In addition to a living
stipend, a suite of Scholar Support fellowships are available to increase accessibility
for scholars from all backgrounds.
Specifically, the Lift Fellowship offers financial support for incoming students from lower-income backgrounds who carry significant financial burdens or obligations to family. This fellowship seeks to help provide stability to students who are entering the programs without a financial safety net. Depending on the level of need, up to 3 students may be selected as recipients. Award amounts range from $10,000 to over $25,000 and are distributed in four equal payments at the start of each of the first four semesters in which the recipient is actively enrolled.
In addition, students may also apply for funding to assist with dependent care and to help alleviate expenses related to significant and/or unexpected medical expenses
