Sustainability
If you are interested in offsetting your travel carbon footprint, click here. HBS has received requests to provide carbon credit recommendations to offset travel emissions as some don’t deliver their expected greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions. HBS is sharing a link to the CNaught offset platform as they curated a carbon credit portfolio for HBS that manages risk and meets our climate, health, and equity criteria. As an example, offsetting the emissions of an economy flight from San Francisco, CA to Boston, MA would cost $13.50.
HBS incorporates a number of sustainability practices in its events. For example, at Commencement we: utilize water stations for guests to reduce bottled water plastic waste; donate leftover food to Food for Free; provide waste sorting stations to divert usable resources from trash into the recycle and compost (which is anaerobically digested) streams; use reusable dishes when feasible or compostable single-use to-go items; and select menu items with lower greenhouse gas emissions in mind.
In addition to our sustainable event practices, HBS has made significant reductions in GHG emissions along with other sustainability achievements. HBS is committed to Harvard’s Sustainability Action Plan which prioritizes climate, health and equity and includes the goals of being fossil fuel neutral by 2026 and fossil fuel free by 2050.
