BOSTON—Researchers at Harvard Business School have released the BiGS Climate Innovators 100 list, a ranking of the publicly traded companies most involved in developing climate change solutions as reported in their mandatory corporate filings.
The first-ever research analyzed tens of thousands of 10-K reports, the annual filings that all public companies must submit to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The analysis included the creation of a climate solution measure, which allowed the companies to be ranked according to a proprietary algorithm developed by Harvard Business School climate finance and accounting professors and scholars. The top 100 companies on the ranking are listed below, along with their scores.
“These companies are focusing on developing and deploying climate technologies to meet customer demand and drive growth for their businesses,” said George Serafeim, the Harvard Business School professor who has been leading the research. “The firms represent many different industries, products, and business models, but what they have in common is investing to provide climate solutions. When it comes to the green economy, our AI algorithm suggests that these are the companies to watch.”
