Campus Vehicular Access

Vehicular Access Defined

Access to campus roadways between Kresge Way Gate (Kresge Way near Soldiers Field Park apartments) and Harvard Way Gate (Harvard Way & North Harvard Street).

Levels of Access

  • Unload/load only (tools, supplies, materials). Green Pass for dashboard.

  • Student move in/move out. Yellow Pass for dashboard. (Limited to 1 hour).

  • Long term parking (jobs that require frequent or prolonged access). Blue Pass for dashboard.

Deliveries to Campus Buildings

Delivery personnel (including express couriers) have the option of short term parking as directed by the Parking Attendant and walking their package to its destination, or delivering to Central Receiving. Other arrangements for campus access must be made with Operations/Security personnel in advance. Exceptions may include some larger volume deliveries, such as Poland Springs water, furniture, etc.

In addition to Security and the Parking Attendant, the Shipper/Receiver has the authority to provide campus access for any delivery which he or she determines best executed with campus access. A campus pass will be provided to the delivery person by the Shipper/Receiver in order that campus access will be granted by Security. Arrangements can be made ahead of time. Campus access information can be included on the shipping papers.

Traffic is generally one-way, entering campus at Kresge Way Gate and exiting at Harvard Way Gate. Delivery vehicles allowed campus access for food service deliveries to Chao Center are directed to enter and exit through Kresge Way Gate, rather than travel by Harvard Way.

Service Vendors

Service vendors may access campus to drop off the tools and materials (which cannot be reasonably carried from the lot) necessary to perform a specific work request. The HBS project or service manager must request access in advance by submitting a campus access request at The name of the authorizing manager will be prominently displayed on the access pass.

Harvard University vehicles are routinely granted access for the purpose of performing service work. As with contractors, the name of the HBS manager responsible for the system in service will appear on the pass.

Passenger Vehicles

Passenger vehicles (buses, taxis, vans, personal vehicles, u-haul trucks or trailers) are allowed on campus only when dorm residents and/or Executive Education participants are moving in or out of HBS facilities or Soldiers Field Park building #1 or #2. Typically this would occur on the first and last days of a program. Exceptions can be made during extraordinary campus events such as reunions and commencement, and for group travel sponsored by an academic program.

Executive Education Vehicles

Executive Education Participants are only permitted to drive onto campus during check-ins and check-outs or with the approval of a member of the guest services teams. Personal vehicles belonging to Executive Education Participants should be parked in the Soldiers Field Park Garage. HBS Security has the discretion to make exceptions on this policy on a case by case basis.

Student Vehicles

Student residents of HBS may be granted campus access to their residence halls on a limited basis during the following hours only: Monday-Friday, 4pm-11pm, and weekends & holidays, 7am-11pm. Proof of residency is required, and any request may be denied at the discretion of the Security guard on duty.

Special access requests, not covered above, should be made to Security at 617-495-5577 or
