Bike Policy

To ensure the safe and responsible use of bicycles on campus, please review the policies and resources below. For information on Motorized Bicycles or Scooters on campus, please visit the Mobility Policy site.

Registration with HUPD

Registering your bicycle with HUPD serves as a deterrent to theft and can help in the recovery of stolen bicycles. The serial number is recorded and an identifying sticker is placed on your bicycle.

HUPD Bike and Safety Laws

Locking & Storage

For the security of your bicycle, it should always be locked to a bicycle rack or placed inside your dorm room or office. Residents of HBS Residence Halls may place their bicycles in storage. Bicycle racks are located near classroom buildings and residence halls, and indoor bike storage is available in the basement of Gallatin Hall. Please contact the HBS Housing Office for more information.

Bicycles cannot be locked to any campus fixture except bicycle racks (see below for a map of racks on campus). If a bicycle is found in a stairwell, hallway, etc., or locked to a lamp post, trash can, etc., the bicycle will be tagged on the first offense. On the second offense, HBS Operations will cut the bicycle lock and remove the bicycle, at the owner’s expense.

Bike Racks on Campus

HBS Operations has bicycle racks with capacity of 300+ throughout campus:
