Born in Nagasaki, Japan in 1951, Hiro Yokose was deeply affected by his experiences growing up in the city in the wake of the atomic bombing. He studied art in Tokyo before emigrating to the United States in the late 1980s. Yokose creates evocative landscapes that merge Eastern and Western landscape traditions and techniques.
