Charlie White
The Interloper, 2003
Fascinated with how Hollywood makes something real out of the unreal, White works with special effects technicians and live models to recreate works that comment on the artificiality of Hollywood films. For this work, White hired scenic artist Jonathan Williams to paint a 24- by 35-inch work in the style of artist Thomas Kinkade that was then made into a 20- by 36-foot backdrop. White then had two puppets created, that would interact with three child actors while he recorded it on film, which then became the basis for this image.
