Carlos Vega (Spanish, born 1963), Laws of Motion, 2003, oil and collage on canvas, 85 x 67 in. Schwartz Art Collection, Harvard Business School, 2003.15.

"This painting belongs to a body of work called The Idle Traveler, in which I portray travel as a metaphor for life and a state of mind open to infinite possibilities. I have created a visual tension between the painted image and the collage, giving equal importance to both....When I found Mr. Abraham Harris's 1912 yearbook (a gift to him from the U.S. Fidelity and Warranty Co.) I fell in love with it. The listings of clients and cases in which Mr. Harris constantly performs as a bridge between parties in dispute is universal. The sequencing of appointments and long days of office work brings me a sense of peace and exemplifies our daily struggle to make a mark on our surroundings."—Carlos Vega
