"Still images derived from films have a mysterious and powerful quality unattainable with regular photography. I created a film/video and drew from that to make still images. Structuralism now confronts Narrative. The images cull from archetypes and imagination, sometimes adapting the Asian to the Western. The desire to experience order and chaos simultaneously is an overarching inspiration; also Feng Shui, with its systems of directions and balance."—Marguerite Van Cook
