Born in New York, Clifford Ross is an American artist who has worked in multiple forms of media, including sculpture, painting, photography, and video. In 2002, in order to photograph Mount Sopris in Colorado at a high resolution, Ross invented and patented his R1 camera. His images of the mountain became part of a 2010 video Harmonium Mountain (with an original score by American composer Philip Glass), and also inspired this print, which is from his Harmonium series. Printed on handcrafted Japanese paper, this work is a colorful abstraction based on his images of the landscape of Mount Sopris.
