Informed by a global spectrum of art historical traditions, Greis’s collage paintings are intricate, detailed panoramas constructed from a range of natural, industrial, military, and architectural imagery. In Forbidden City he explores the theme of Chinese urbanism, and depicts the imperial palace from the Ming Dynasty through the end of the Qing Dynasty.
