Milford Walkway, 1999
"Many of my photographs depict the borderland where human activity and nature intersect. The photographs of the stone steps at Bar Harbor and the wooden walkway through a cedar grove in Milford show the natural world surrounding pathways that we have only provisionally commandeered. In the end, we would do well to find in nature the definition of all health and to see in her a way to understand the meaning of our ambitions."—Michael Alpert
