Tim Day Fitness Room

The Tim Day Fitness Room in Shad Hall was made possible through a generous donation from Timothy T. Day (MBA 1964) and the Timothy T. Day Foundation. The project, completed in the summer of 2019, united Shad Hall’s cardio and strength training spaces to provide users with an enhanced fitness experience. The open floor plan includes a centrally located staff desk and social area, allowing staff to service the entire area more efficiently and provide increased safety oversight. The renovation also included the addition of padded flooring and upgraded strength training and cardio equipment with new user-friendly and technologically advanced units.

About the Name

Timothy T. Day (MBA 1964) is a distinguished entrepreneur, visionary leader, and philanthropist. He founded Bar-S Foods Co. in 1981 and served as its chief executive officer for over 30 years, building one of the foremost companies in the processed-meat industry. Tim served on active duty as a line officer in the Marine Corps from 1959 to 1962. This experience profoundly influenced his values, personal traits, and character. Recognizing that valuable lessons gained from military service laid the foundation for his success, Tim has dedicated much of his life to supporting the Marine Corps.

One of the primary missions of the Timothy T. Day Foundation is to provide fellowships at Harvard Business School to develop future leaders of both the Marine Corps and the nation. The first fellowship was established in 2005 for MBA students who previously served as Marine officers and demonstrated significant leadership. In 2011, the Foundation added fellowships for senior Marine officers on active duty to attend the Advanced Management Program. The goal of these fellowships is to help prepare them for high-level responsibilities and to build a cadre of leaders who will leverage this educational experience to strengthen the Marine Corps.
