This talk will have multiple segments.
1. First, the talk will summarise recent papers that use public financial data
to explore questions in operations management.
2. Second, we will discuss briefly a few recent papers that examine if
operational variables can be used to predict stock market performance.
3. Third, I will descirbe recent attempts to introduce this research in the MBA
and executive education classroom.
4. I am hoping that #1-3 above can serve as a basis for a discussion on the
interface between capital markets and operations management. I would like to
discuss the value of creating a dataset (from public sources) for operations
management research.
