This talk builds on the notion of technology roadmapping and adds in notions of business dynamics and regulatory policy dynamics to build a construct that I call value chain roadmapping. This construct examines the interplay among multiple dynamic forces that impact complex value chains, including business cycle dynamics (e.g., the bullwhip), industry structure dynamics, (e.g., the double helix), customer preference dynamics, corporate strategy dynamics, technology dynamics, and regulatory policy dynamics. The resulting framework is used to consider value chain roadmapping in the (fast-clockspeed) telecommunications industry.
