Social-enterprise focused clubs and consulting organizations offer excellent opportunities for organizations to connect with HBS students and alumni who are focused on improving organizational management, governance, and entrepreneurial capabilities.
Alumni Volunteer Consulting
Through these pro bono activities, alumni consulting teams in several cities offer nonprofit organizations business management expertise.
Student Clubs
The Social Enterprise Club, the Social Enterprise Conference, and a number of related clubs frequently host speakers, conferences, organization visits, career fairs, and more. Link to full list of student clubs.
Board Fellows (Boston area only)
MBA students participate in one-year leadership engagements as non-voting members of a nonprofit’s board, and complete a strategic project with mentorship from the executive director or a current board member.
Organization applications are due in late August. Program runs from September through May.
Volunteer Consulting Organization (Boston area only)
Teams of students offer pro bono consulting to Boston-based social enterprises. The VCO offers teams support through a client fair, numerous trainings and peer advisory relationships.
Application deadline is August 1 for October to May project.
Harbus Foundation (Boston area only)
Created by Harbus News Corporation at HBS, the Harbus Foundation provides grants and venture philanthropy awards to organizations promoting education, literacy, and journalism within the greater Boston area. Application for funding is by invitation only.
