Courses & Programs
Executive Education
HBS offers five focused Social Enterprise Executive Education programs each year, three targeted toward nonprofit leaders, one for corporate leaders, and one for teams of education leaders within urban public school districts. Taught by a team of faculty members from HBS and other graduate schools within Harvard University, Social Enterprise Executive Education programs feature a wide variety of management cases and materials. Additionally, HBS has hosted a number of Social Enterprise custom programs with individual organizations and interest groups when their needs have aligned with faculty research interests and areas of focus.
Nonprofit Programs
Governing for Nonprofit Excellence (GNE) is intended for chairs of nonprofit boards and other nonprofit board members occupying significant board leadership roles. This three-day program explores issues of critical concern to board leaders, including strategic planning; managing mission transitions and organizational transformations; achieving financial sustainability; structuring and managing alliances; attaining effective board-CEO relationships; creating a productive board structure; and preserving trust and accountability. Limited need–based GNE scholarship funding may be available. The next offering of GNE is December 9-12, 2009. The 2010 GNE program will take place November 3—6, 2010.

Performance Measurement for Effective Management of Nonprofit Organizations (PMNO) is a three-day program designed to help nonprofit leaders use performance measurement to enhance their organization's ability to achieve their mission. Specifically, the program encourages participants to look at how the strategic use of organizational performance measurement can improve key areas of management concern such as resource allocation, internal processes, and external accountability. Participants address various organizational performance measurement challenges that managers face, and explore best practices reflecting the awareness that different types of performance problems require different approaches. PMNO is a collaboration between the Social
Enterprise Initiative and Harvard's University's Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations. Limited need–based PMNO scholarship funding may be available. The next offering of PMNO is June 1—4, 2010.

Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management (SPNM) is an intensive six-day program designed to strengthen the capacity of nonprofit CEOs and executive directors to lead their organizations effectively. SPNM provides a conceptual approach to shape the direction, mission, policies, and major programs of nonprofit organizations. Participants explore strategic concepts in mission focus, market sensitivity, organizational structure, and performance management and control. Participants also take part in the Strategy Workshop, a small-group consultative session in which they address critical challenges facing their organizations. Limited need–based

Corporate Programs
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Strategies to Create Business and Social Value is designed to provide senior corporate executives in a variety of industries with the knowledge and practical tools and frameworks for integrating social responsibility as part of their corporate strategy. The program explores how corporate social responsibility can significantly improve business performance, how to incorporate it into the company strategy, and how to drive it throughout the organization. Through an in-depth exploration of the dilemmas, challenges, and complexities inherent to existing models of CSR, the program pushes the frontiers of the field and brings into focus the next generation of issues facing practitioners. Education Programs
The Public Education Leadership Program (PELP) is designed for teams of eight participants, including district office personnel, school principals, and regional supervisors, who are responsible for school systems with at least 30,000 enrolled students. Participants explore how to develop, communicate, and implement a strategy that achieves excellence across all school districts by examining the management and leadership best practices in successful school districts, businesses, and nonprofit organizations.
