Careers

To support students and alumni pursuing careers in social enterprise, the Social Enterprise Initiative, in collaboration with MBA and Alumni Career Services, provides informational and financial resources through the following programs:

  • The Social Enterprise Summer Fellowship program offers MBA students the opportunity to spend 8-12 weeks working within social enterprises to address important managerial issues utilizing their analytic and strategic skills.
  • The Social Venture Track of the HBS Business Plan Contest, for students pursuing entrepreneurial efforts.
  • The HBS Leadership Fellows program gives a select group of graduating HBS students the chance to make an impact in nonprofit and public-sector organizations at a competitive salary for one year. HBS students interested in learning more, please visit the Leadership Fellows student website. Organizations interested in submitting a proposal, please visit the program website to learn more about eligibility and criteria.
  • The HBS Nonprofit/Public Sector Loan Repayment Assistance Program reduces the educational debt burden for qualifying MBA students and alumni serving in managerial positions in the nonprofit and public sectors. Graduating students pursuing for-profit social enterprise positions may qualify for other HBS loan reduction programs (see Financial Aid Quick Info site, Intranet Login Required).
  • The HBS Social Entrepreneurship Fellowship supports a select number of recent HBS graduates who are launching social enterprises — nonprofit, for–profit, or hybrid organizations with a central focus on the creation of social value.
  • Additional career resources are available to support students exploring careers in social enterprise, as well as alumni making career changes—either within or into the social sector.
