These etchings are derived from series of 38 paintings, called "Stations," each of which is a trompe simulation of a weathered page from a (fictitious) album of pictures. I imagined the album itself as a kind of photographic survey, whose original purpose was to document each of the named places along a railroad line (also fictitious) in the northern Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia.
