Dufresne treats her materials with the same irreverence with which she treats her history. Segments of flamboyant color are paired with earth tones to suggest a slightly antiquated appearance. Colors drip as though the intended use or meaning of these spaces dissolves in the process of painting, enhancing a dreamy state of mind.
