Bamberger's recent western landscapes take his ongoing explorations of the horizon line to new extremes. He used digital technology to create virtual panoramas that seem to extend endlessly, raising questions about nature and artifice, difference and similarity, and the romantic tendency to ascribe virtue to all things natural. The artist eliminates obvious repetitions and saturates colors until he produces an image that appears to be just natural enough not to seem synthetic.
