Consumer Packaged Goods
HBS students who go into CPG have proven track records of academic excellence and extracurricular achievement. They want to join a marketing-driven firm where they can be close to the brand/products, and become innovative, insightful leaders on the team.
A recent HBS MBA said about his focus on CPG:
"What I love about working in CPG is touching the brand and being a part of the group that drives its growth. HBS has not only helped me hone my strategic thinking, it's also furthered my 'soft' skills... things like being a good team member, knowing how to navigate cross-functional task forces, etc. I've learned so much about being a smart marketer and thoughtful leader!"

Resources for Recruiters
Recruiting for CPG at HBS is all about marketing. You're marketing your organization, your people and culture, and the MBA roles you offer. Think about how you want to position your company brand and connect with your target audience - whether they are first year or second year students.
We encourage you to:
- Gain recruiting strategies to help create awareness of your firm among a larger audience before targeting a select group of students on-campus.
- Collaborating with student clubs to participate in speaking engagements, receptions, conferences and more is a great way to meet students interested in your organization. Learn about the Marketing & CPG Club or a geographic regional club that fits with the role you are hiring for such as the Midwest Student Association.
- Get creative with programs that come out of your brand! Set up a reception in one of your Boston stores, or conduct a day long workshop on a hot topic for your team. Whatever you choose, it's best to tailor the recruiting events like touch points, to feel like your brand and bring it to life for the students.
