Events & Interviews

Recruiting Options

There are numerous ways to get involved in recruiting at HBS. Beginning in September you may interact with second-year students during Networking Nights or company presentations. Recruiting events for first-year students begin in November. In addition to interviews and presentations, targeted recruiting events provide an excellent opportunity to connect with students. Both on- and off-campus events are effective ways to raise awareness and to build personal relationships with candidates before the interview process starts.

Interviews

Reserve a date to interview first-year HBS students for summer employment or second-year HBS students for career hiring. Interviews may be conducted on-campus (facilitated by HBS) or off-campus (facilitated by the company), but all interview dates must be approved by MBA Career & Professional Development regardless of location.

For more information about scheduling interviews, see Career Hiring and Internship Hiring.

Networking Nights

Second-year (class of 2010 only) recruiting launches with Networking Nights on September 14 and 15. Registered companies will be assigned a table in a banquet hall, where they will be able to meet and greet students in a relaxed setting. For more information about Networking Nights or to register, please see Career Hiring.

Company Information Days

First-year (class of 2011) recruiting launches with Company Information Days on November 9 and 10. Companies will have the opportunity to give a presentation and participate in a networking session on-campus. Company Information Days is a great way to generate excitement about your company and to initiate communications with interested first-year students earlier in the year. For more information about Company Information Days or to register, please see Internship Hiring.

Presentations

Presentations provide an excellent opportunity for a company to educate students about everything from the corporate culture to opportunities that exist for MBA students. MBA Career & Professional Development offers on-campus presentations throughout the year. Companies may also hold an off-campus presentation with date approval from our office. All company presentations open to an entire class, regardless of location, will be posted on the MBA event calendar.

For more information about scheduling a presentation, see Career Hiring and Internship Hiring.

Other Recruiting Events (On- and Off-Campus)

A recruiting event is defined as any activity where company-specific information is provided including (but not limited to) details about company culture, career opportunities and recruiting practices. Examples of recruiting events include presentations, informational sessions, meetings, receptions, cocktail parties and dinners. All recruiting events, regardless of location and sponsor (including events for clubs and sections), must be approved by MBA Career & Professional Development and adhere to our recruiting policies and guidelines. More information about registering for other events will be available in August.

Club Affiliated Events

Student clubs provide an excellent opportunity for your company to connect with a targeted group of students. You may strengthen your presence on campus by partnering with more than 50 career-related student clubs and associations at HBS. All event dates, regardless of location and sponsor, must be approved by MBA Career & Professional Development.

A vital part of campus life, student clubs sponsor and coordinate many career-related activities, including:

  • Distinguished speaker series
  • Panel discussions and conferences
  • Career Fairs and workshops
  • Career Treks (November to March) to more than fifteen destinations worldwide
  • Off-Campus Events (both first and second-year students)

MBA Career & Professional Development makes every effort to advise you of potential event conflicts, but cannot guarantee conflicts will not arise.

For more on Club Events, see Connect with Students.
