Harvard Business School plans to assist faculty and students of temporarily closed schools in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina

We at HBS would like to help Gulf Coast residents in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. To respond to the needs of faculty and students of temporarily closed schools until the time their home institutions reopen, a program of assistance is underway at Harvard Business School at three levels for the fall semester:

Faculty - On a space available basis, selected faculty members able to relocate to the Boston area may be provided with a work space, help in finding housing, use of Baker Library, and access to other HBS facilities and resources. Interested faculty should fill out and submit a brief information form by Monday 10 October.

Doctoral candidates - On a space available basis, selected doctoral candidates may continue their doctoral studies as special students during the fall term at HBS. These doctoral students will be provided assistance in finding housing, a study carrel, and access to Baker Library. Additional support may be provided on a case-by-case basis. Interested doctoral students should fill out and submit a brief information form by Friday 23 September. Doctoral programs courses begin on Monday 19 September.

MBA students - Unfortunately, HBS's MBA program has been underway since the first week of September. In special circumstances, we will try to accommodate a small number of second-year students in the elective curriculum (second year) of the MBA program as special students for the fall semester. These students may attend the remaining classes of several ongoing courses. Enrollment requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Students will be provided assistance in finding housing. Interested students should contact the MBA Program Office (617.496.2696) by Monday 19 September.

We hope these efforts will help some faculty and students this fall so they can resume their studies and work in their home institutions as the recovery permits.
