Sheryl Sandberg (MBA ’95) To Address HBS Students on Class Day 2012

BOSTON—Harvard Business School alumna Sheryl Sandberg, the chief operating officer of Facebook, will give Harvard Business School's (HBS) Class Day keynote address to graduating students on Wednesday, May 23, as part of a student-led ceremony traditionally held the day before Harvard University's Commencement exercises and the HBS diploma ceremony.

Since joining the company in March 2008, Sandberg has helped Facebook become profitable and helped transform it into the world's largest social media network. As one of the few women in a top positions in the technology industry, Sandberg has also been vocal about empowering women as business leaders.

Prior to Facebook, she was vice president of Online Sales & Operations at Google from November 2001 through February 2008. Before Google, she was chief of staff for then-Secretary of the Treasury Lawrence Summers during the Clinton Administration.

The Class Day program will also include a welcome from the co-presidents of the MBA Class of 2012, faculty teaching awards, and a student speaker.

The Class Day keynote speaker is selected each year by a student committee responsible for planning the ceremony, which is open to members of the graduating class, their guests, HBS alumni, faculty and staff.
