HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL EXECUTIVE EDUCATION INTRODUCES NEW PROGRAM TO ASSIST ENTREPRENEURS IN NAVIGATING THE COMPETITIVE BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT

BOSTON - Harvard Business School (HBS) announced today a new Executive Education program, Launching New Ventures: Jump-Starting Innovation for Entrepreneurs and Business Owners. The open-enrollment program will prepare executives to start and build successful new ventures in today's complex and rapidly changing business environment. It will take place on the School's Boston campus from September 30 - October 5, 2007.

"The act of starting and building a sustainable and successful business requires more than financial capital and an innovative idea; today's entrepreneurs must understand how to evolve strategy and operations to keep pace with rapid changes in the business environment," said Professor Lynda M. Applegate, faculty chair of the Harvard Business School program.

The program is designed for executives who are leading a new venture or developing the capabilities needed for successful innovation in their small to midsize companies.

The curriculum of the program is built around cases and tutorials that examine the challenges and risks associated with launching a start-up. The program will also focus on:

  • the organizational capabilities needed to launch and grow a new business;
  • analyzing and prioritizing ideas and determining the size and viability of opportunities;
  • making sound investment and management decisions;
  • developing the leadership skills required to mobilize excitement and engagement while also ensuring operational excellence.
Admission to the Launching New Ventures program is based on professional achievement and organizational responsibility. For more information or to apply online visit http://www.exed.hbs.edu/programs/lnv/.
