HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL GLOBAL LEADERSHIP FORUM TO FOCUS ON INTERSECTION OF BUSINESS AND GOVERNMENT

Annual Alumni Event Will Showcase Best of Global Leadership Thinking, Research, and Practice

BOSTON - The Harvard Business School Global Leadership Forum (GLF) – always one of the highlights of the year for many alumni – will focus this year on the increasingly interrelated worlds of business and government. Bringing together HBS graduates, professors, and business and government leaders from around the world, the 2006 GLF, The Private Sector and the Public Interest, will take place in Washington D.C. from June 20-22nd and examine how the many intersections of the public and private worlds affect financial markets, innovation and technology, executive compensation, and society as a whole.

The Private Sector and the Public Interest will focus on such critical challenges as the U.S. health care system, antitrust policy, entrepreneurship, and minimizing risk management. Throughout the event, leadership issues will take center stage, as experts consider how decision making, management, and negotiation are best conducted within business and government. The 2006 Forum will also include a variety of formal and informal networking activities, with opportunities for alumni to interact during evening social events, designated networking areas, roundtable discussions, and preplanned and “drop-in” networking sessions.

HBS Professor and Senior Associate Dean Malcolm S. Salter (MBA ‘64) serves as faculty chair and Charles O. Rossotti, (MBA ‘64), Senior Advisor at the Carlyle Group, is alumni chair for the Forum. Newly appointed Dean Jay Light will be present to kick off the event with an address to attendees. In addition, Jeffrey Immelt (MBA ‘82), chairman and CEO of GE; Samuel Bodman, United States Secretary of Energy; Robert Rubin, former United States Secretary of the Treasury; and Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, are just a few of the world experts scheduled to present on high profile topics such as energy, healthcare, economic policy, and the environment.
