CHINA EUROPE INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOOL, HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL, AND IESE BUSINESS SCHOOL JOIN FORCES TO DEVELOP GLOBAL CEO PROGRAM FOR CHINA
Executive Education Program Addresses Business and Management Demands on Chinese CEOs Competing in Global Marketplace
SHANGHAI, BOSTON, BARCELONA - Three of the world's major business schools - China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai, Harvard Business School (HBS) in Boston, and IESE Business School in Barcelona - have worked together to develop a special executive education initiative called the Global CEO Program for China to help Chinese chief executives better understand the global economy and how they can operate more effectively outside the region. The program also addresses the business and management demands on CEOs in China today and focuses on the effects of country differences on decision making and organizational competitiveness. Participants will not only broaden their business knowledge but develop a strategic vision with concrete actionable ideas for their companies.
This powerful educational alliance between CEIBS, HBS, and IESE brings together an outstanding faculty team from all three schools to explore the best practices of Chinese and multinational companies through a comprehensive, transformational learning experience. Comprised of a four-part curriculum, the program enables CEOs to experience firsthand the unique perspectives of conducting business internationally through four week-long modules in all three cities. Module one (February 13-18, 2006) and module two (March 20-25, 2006) will both take place in Shanghai at CEIBS; participants will then travel to Barcelona to take part in module three at IESE (April 17-22, 2006) before completing the program at HBS in Boston (June 19-24, 2006).
"Countrywide economic growth coupled with the globalization of the world economy has made it essential for Chinese business leaders to learn how to operate on an international scale," said Zhang Weijiong, Program Co-Director and Professor of Management at CEIBS. "Through this unique educational collaboration between CEIBS, HBS, and IESE, the Global CEO Program for China will arm the region's leaders with insight into the essential social, cultural, political, and economic factors that significantly influence business in the global environment."
Guided by world-renowned faculty through interactive lectures, case studies, group discussions, and self-assessment exercises, participating CEOs will engage in a highly charged interchange of knowledge, insights, and expertise. Every facet of the program is structured to promote dynamic and shared learning. The curriculum is intensive and timely, covering topics such as:
- evaluation and development of corporate strategy,
- market and customer orientation,
- organizational capability,
- financial management,
- economic reform and outlook,
- evaluation of cross-boarder business environments,
- corporate governance and social responsibility,
- technology and operations management, and
- leadership and personal development.
"The Global CEO Program for China has been created with resources from three of the world's most renowned business academic institutions - CEIBS, HBS, and IESE - to address the management concerns of CEOs in China today," said Program Co-Director Jaume Ribera, IESE Professor of Production and Operations Management. "While examining strategic issues, program participants will determine how to leverage structure, processes, culture, and incentives to implement strategic change within their organizations. This will be essential for future growth in the region."
Participants who have successfully completed the program will receive the Global CEO Program for China certificate jointly signed by CEIBS, HBS, and IESE. Attendance at all four modules is mandatory for successful completion of the program.
