Raleigh, North Carolina wealth manager Chuck ReCorr is a unique philanthropist. Instead of donating cash to local nonprofits, he sends their executive directors and board members to Harvard Business School’s Social Enterprise Executive Education programs. ReCorr believes that teaching nonprofit leaders to make better decisions maximizes the effectiveness of their organizations, allowing them to better deliver on their missions over time. In the past few years, he's sent more than 30 people to HBS, including Rose Kenyon, Board President of Habitat for Humanity of Wake County; Travis Mitchell, President of Communities in Schools of Wake County; and Mary Poole, Executive Director of Artspace. We followed up with Rose, Travis and Mary to find out how they put that knowledge into practice.
