Business Can Do a Better Job Supporting Public Education

American business leaders understand that to be competitive in the global economy, this country must do a better job of educating its youth. The weakness in our education system was underscored by the results from the OECD’s most recent Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) tests, which revealed that 23 of 65 countries scored higher than the U.S. in reading and 35 countries scored higher in math. It is hardly surprising that so many American companies complain about the difficulty of finding qualified applicants to satisfy their workforce needs.
