Another scholar who studies virtual worlds, Magnus Thor Torfason of Harvard Business School, says it's surprising that there's not more cheating in virtual worlds — as when the head of EBank simply absconded with the bank's funds. That, in itself, may reveal something interesting about how norms and trust shape markets. "If you break these contracts, there's not much that can be done to you," Torfason says.
