Michael Norton, an associate professor at Harvard Business School, said many charitable causes resort to mainstream business models to make money, like Project Red, a charity that partnered with Apple and Gap clothing. Instead of fundraising, Project Red split revenue from iPods and clothing with its partners to help fight AIDS in Africa.
