During the summer between my Junior and Senior year, while I was doing my internship at Goldman Sachs, I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend Harvard’s Summer Venture in Management Program. The experiences that I had in Cambridge and the people that I met while I was there have been unlike anything else that I have ever done. Sitting in a classroom with eighty extremely smart individuals from across the country was tremendously inspiring and I felt so fortunate to have been given the opportunity to attend.

I had a brief exposure to the case-method in my classes at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, but I had never experienced the in-depth approach that exists at HBS. From the study groups early in the morning to the actual class sessions, we were able to analyze complex business problems in a relatively short amount of time. In my opinion, the best part of the program was the faculty teaching the cases. Not only were the teachers world-renowned in their fields, a lot of them had actually written the cases we studied, making them extremely knowledgeable in the subject. Further, you could tell that they were all committed to aid with the underrepresentation of minorities in business schools and the workplace.
