Student Life
The Spangler Center
The Spangler Center, our outstanding 121,050 square foot campus center designed by Robert A.M. Stern, adds an important dimension to the HBS experience for MBA students and partners and enhances the School's academic service capabilities.
The building includes twenty-nine project rooms with whiteboards and Internet connections—some with plasma screens—as well as a 350-seat auditorium equipped with a state-of-the-art media and presentation system. Furthermore, a completely wireless local-area network (LAN) covers the entire building, thus allowing faculty and students with wireless-enabled PCs to access assignments and study notes, and other information.
In order to facilitate effective use of student time, many services are centralized in the center's lower level, including IT Support Services, a Harvard Coop branch book store, a copy center, a United States post office, Student Association offices, course material distribution center, telephones, and an ATM. Well-appointed student lounges with computer terminals comprise the center's main level. Dining facilities on both levels are open throughout most of the day. MBA administrative offices occupy the upper level.
Dining at Spangler
The main dining facility at Harvard Business School, located in the Spangler Center, provides students with a wide selection of food options from morning until night. Spangler is divided into two sections:
Food Court/Dining Room The food court is on the first level of the Spangler Center. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the food court features a sandwich bar, Asian station, coffee bar, hot entree area, salad bar, soups, and much more.
The Grille Located on the lower level of Spangler, this fun, inviting space—complete with a fireplace and TVs—is well-suited for dining and socializing with friends and colleagues. The Grille offers on-the-go foods such as burgers, grilled sandwiches, french fries, pizza, pre-packaged sandwiches and salads, and a wide selection of beverages and snacks. Beer and wine are served in the evening. The Grille also provides a private dining area that may be reserved for functions. The Grille is also home to student social events, as well as the "Thank Goodness It's Friday" happy hour, sponsored by the Student Association at the end of class many Friday afternoons.
