“Where else could you go to meet someone who used to design and build rockets?”

What’s the one thing you’re most excited about learning at HBS?

I love my Entrepreneurial Manager class. We get to see a ton of different cases about how people start and grow companies – we see the opportunities and challenges they face and how they meet them. But what makes learning exciting at HBS is the incredible section experience, which I wasn’t really aware of when I applied. There’s always an interesting debate, and the class is usually evenly divided. Multiple times, I often change my own opinion on the issues at stake.

How do your HBS ambitions fit into the big picture of the world beyond?

After graduation, I’d like to go back to Mexico and get involved in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. I believe entrepreneurship is the way to tackle inequality in Mexico and bring economic development. Mexico has huge obesity problems, and I’m always thinking, how can we find affordable ways to distribute healthy food to low-income communities? It’ll involve innovations in the food, health care, and education industries. I’m not exactly sure where my entry point will be, but these are the issues I’m passionate about.

How are you pushing yourself?

Next year, I’ll be one of the Chief Community Officers for the Student Association (SA). As part of the SA’s mission, we want to make sure we create the right environment, events, and culture to encourage lasting friendships. Similarly, I want to strengthen my friendships with people inside and outside my section. In one of my first conversations here, I met Zach, who used to work for SpaceX and Elon Musk, one of the most visionary leaders we have today. Where else could you go to meet someone who used to design and build rockets? Multiply that awesomeness times 900 and you get the Class of 2015!

What might people find surprising about you?

I used to sing at weddings in Mexico. So typically, if you want to find me at a party, I’ll be the guy onstage. Yes, I was part of the HBS Show and it was an incredible experience!
