Faculty & Research
HBS faculty are internationally recognized for their pioneering research and contributions to business management and have left their imprint on virtually every industry. Our faculty create approximately 250 cases each year, ensuring that recent and emerging trends are constantly examined and integrated into the curriculum. Consulting, service on boards, and industry ties of all kinds keep faculty close to practice.
Faculty research is intimately tied to our commitment to teaching. Their work yields unprecedented insights that ultimately allow professors to bring the realities of business to the classrooms of HBS, where the next generation of business leaders relives these scenarios, learning lessons that will guide them throughout their careers.
To prepare students for a truly global economy, faculty leverage direct access to companies here and abroad. Over the past decade, the School has opened the California Research Center in Silicon Valley, and global research centers in Asia (including Tokyo), Europe, Latin America and most recently in Mumbai, India. Faculty conduct research onsite, allowing firsthand observation and direct contact with industry, academic, and government leaders who have faced concrete challenges and made decisions.
The resulting HBS research has helped define and advance entirely new disciplines—including organizational behavior and marketing—and to facilitate greater understanding of competitive business strategy, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
