All FIELD 2 projects must meet the following criteria:

  • Consumer Focused: Projects must involve a Business-to-Consumer (B2C) product or service given the need for students to easily access customers during the immersion.
  • Design opportunity: Projects must involve creating the concept for a new product or service. Students should be able to make suggestions without extensive background training (such as medical or engineering knowledge) and do so within the time given for the course.
  • Local Market: Both the Global Partner and target customers must be based in or near the immersion city, as students will remain in their immersion location for the duration of the program in January.

    • Finance/Insurance

      • Project: Your Global Partner would like you to develop a novel retail banking service targeted at young professionals.
      • Project: Your Global Partner would like you to develop a new product for the individual mass market that will appeal to the unbanked segment helping them to increase their financial literacy and to start to generate savings.
      • Project: Your Global Partner would like you to develop a novel insurance product that covers a wide range of risks including personal funeral expenses, fire, flood, life. This product should be for the local consumer who does not currently have insurance.
      • Project: Your Global Partner would like you to design a new service for people with health insurance that will be attractive to local individuals and families living in semi-urban areas.

    • Retail/Consumer Goods

      • Project:Your Global Partner would like you to design a new product that will attract local customers who currently do not buy their hair care products. The product may be a mobile beauty app, or a new hair care product or line.
      • Project:Your Global Partner would like you to develop a new product line for the household fan that appeals to local customers ages 25-35 who live in the city.
      • Project: Your Global Partner, a large department store, would like you to develop a new service that will enhance the shopping experience of their current metropolitan customers.
      • Project: Your Global Partner, a juice and healthy café chain, would like you to develop a novel service for local customers who have difficulty visiting the store due to the lack of parking.

      • Project:Your Global Partner, a large telecommunications company, would like you to develop a new service targeted at young adult consumers in the city.
      • Project:Your Global Partner would like you to create a new financial product for the urban population. Specifically, they would like you to consider how to use mobile money technology to serve customers who do not currently have bank accounts.
      • Project:Your Global Partner would like you to develop a new mobile-phone service that appeals to the networked, social-media savvy consumer in the city.

    • Technology

      • Project:Your Global Partner would like you to develop the concept for an innovative fantasy sports product, focusing initially on the capital city region.
      • Project: Your Global Partner would like you to identify a new online photo sharing/cloud store service (including mobile, tablet, TV, etc.) for adults ages 20-30.
      • Project: Your Global Partner would like you to develop a new online or touchscreen service that allows its local viewers to interact with a television or a radio show. Your design should be suited for their news channel.

      • Project: Your Global Partner plans to broadcast a sitcom focused on promoting entrepreneurship. Your task is to develop a new concept for a product or service that complements the show. The target audience for the product or service is aspiring entrepreneurs. Your concept will enhance the value and attractiveness of the show.
      • Project: Your Global Partner would like you to develop a novel consumer financial product that would allow customers at the base of the pyramid to finance a new stove that would improve health and safety in the home.
      • Project:Your Global Partner would like you to develop a novel service focused on developing local tourism for domestic travelers.
      • Project:Your Global Partner would like you to develop a car sharing service for their customers to use to carpool to and from work on a regular basis.
