Struggling to find a job during the depression, the Russian-born immigrant, accepted an entry level engineering position with Newmont in 1945. Nine short years later, Malozemoff took the helm of Newmont Mining that, at the time, was valued at $147 million. Through skillful acquisitions and international expansion, Malozemoff built Newmont into a global corporation with a $2.3 billion market capitalization.
