Medlin expanded the relatively small Wachovia Bank into one of the largest financial companies in the south. During his seventeen year tenure, he acquired banks in Georgia and South Carolina and grew the asset base of the company from $3.6 billion to $35.3 billion. Medlin was consistently recognized by fellow CEOs as one of the best managers in banking.
