Treybig was a pioneer in the early days of computer development. In 1976, his company introduced the first fail-safe, no fault minicomputer at a time when system failures and breakdowns were commonplace. By stringing together a series of computers in tandem, clients could be assured that their systems would not crash if one piece of hardware malfunctioned. Tandemís revenues doubled every year between 1976 and 1981, making it one of the fastest growing businesses in the seventies.
