In 1882, Benedict and two partners organized a firm to sell the new Remington Typewriter. Four years later, the firm purchased the entire Remington plant, and took control of both the selling and manufacturing of the typewriter. Upon incorporation of the company in 1895, Benedict became president and served in that position until 1913.
