In 1906, Bedford became president of the newly consolidated Corn Products Refining Company. Under Bedford’s leadership, Corn Products Refining manufactured several forms of oil, including “Mazola,” several forms of sugar, and a grain syrup called “Karo.” Bedford was principally responsible for instituting the packaging era in the industry.
