In 1928, fifteen auto parts manufacturers merged to form Borg-Warner Corporation with Davis as president. Davis expanded Borg-Warner’s reach until the firm included 27 subsidiaries and operated 30 manufacturing plants in eight states, Canada, and England. In addition to auto parts, Davis diversified the company’s product line to include household appliances, farm equipment and military equipment. From 1928 to 1950, Davis grew the assets of Borg-Warner from $19 million to $161 million.
