Along with his brother, Abrams developed the first radio-phonograph combination, which was introduced in 1924. Emerson went on to launch a number of additional “firsts” including a clock radio, a self-powered portable radio, and a midget transistor radio. By 1965, the corporation owned 20 subsidiaries and manufactured more than 100 products, including television sets, radios, air conditioners and tape recorders.
