During his CEO tenure, Blancke embarked on a massive growth plan for Celanese. Believing that success in the petrochemical industry was predicated on size, Blancke acquired several competitors and grew the company from $135 million in revenues to over $1 billion. His instincts enabled Celanese to enjoy some of the strongest market value growth records in the industry during the early 1960s.
