_MyHBS

MyHBS lets faculty, students, and staff build virtual communities while customizing their views of the HBS Intranet. Developed in-house, this application builds a dynamic, personalized home page for each user based on specific needs and preferences.

Faculty, students, and staff customize their views to include department-specific information and announcements, news from HBS and around the world, School-wide resources, and more. They can also join a range of listservs created specifically for the HBS community. In addition to providing users with quick, easy access to the information they need most, myHBS lets them build online communities to share information and ideas on any aspect of work and life at HBS.

myHBS1HBS has vast online resources available to students. Information about every conceivable administrative and academic aspect of student life is online. This broad array of information services and tools is all brought together neatly in HBS' personalized information portal, myHBS.

myHBS2myHBS brings two distinct kinds of services to students. First is personalized up-to-the-minute information about the things that matter most day to day. Every student's view is unique, displaying only specific information targeted to (or selected by) that student. A glance at the myHBS homepage offers relevant announcements and news from the MBA program, the student's complete course schedule and assignments for the day, and the School's event calendar for the day (filtered according to the student's selected interests). Students can check the contents of their mailboxes, see a summary of new "classified ads" posted by other students, view the latest feature articles from the HBS Working Knowledge online magazine, or get the local weather forecast. Those planning for life after HBS can check on the status of personal search agents running in the HBS Career Services JobBank application, or view their job interview schedule, all at a glance.

myHBS3The myHBS screen is completely configurable. Information sections can be moved or removed, and there's a whole selection of optional tools that students can add to further personalize their myHBS portal.

myHBS4Secondly, myHBS brings together a compendium of school academic and administrative resources in a comprehensive guide to working, living, and learning at HBS. A series of targeted tabs at the top of the screen links to electronic library resources and useful information about the school's departments and processes, and guides students through seasonal activities such as course sign-up, financial aid planning, and commencement.

myHBS5myHBS deeply integrates HBS' enterprise data systems, from careers to courses to classifieds. Its modular architecture has allowed it to grow and accommodate new services and data sources that were inconceivable when version 1.0 was released by HBS IT in 2000. Like all HBS Web apps, myHBS was designed and built within a three-tiered J2EE architecture.
