Why did you focus on healthcare while pursuing your MBA?

Since I am coming from a part of the world where healthcare is not the first priority of governments, I see people suffering because of the undeveloped healthcare infrastructure. In addition, starting from my very childhood, I was able to share the passion of my father who served as a physician, investor, and manager in the healthcare sector for more than 30 years. I believe that when you improve healthcare infrastructure in emerging markets, everyone wins—investors get their return on investment, and citizens see improvements in the quality of their lives. I want to be part of this important mission.

Given your previous experience in healthcare and a career goal of staying in this industry, what made you decide to pursue your MBA at HBS?

I believe that HBS, with its unbeatable reputation, along with the best faculty in the healthcare landscape, provides the tremendous network an MBA needs most after graduation.

Even though the School doesn't have a defined healthcare program?

Yes. An MBA program, by definition, should provide a general management education in order to give students the judgment, problem-solving skills, and alumni network to leverage. I believe the healthcare industry needs clever approaches from an MBA who has balanced education with the ability to bring creative solutions to the table.

What will be the greatest benefit to working in healthcare?

The ability to see the improvement in the quality of people's lives.
